Difference between Loestrin 1/20, loestrin fe, and loestrin 24?
I've been researching loestrin and have seen many different uses of the name. Are they all the same thing just named differently, or does the 1/20, fe, and 24 all stand for something like doses?

I'm on Loestrin 24FE. The FE stands for iron. The "inactive" pills are green and instead of just containing sugar, they have an iron supplement. The 24 means there are 24 active days of pills. Most other birth control only have 21. Those three extra days stair-step down your hormone level. It helped me stop having hormonal migraines.

I'm not sure what 1/20 is but its probably a slightly different formulation.

what is the difference between Loestrin 1/20 Fe and Loestrien 1/20-21?
I would like to know because I asked the nurse to call in Loestrin 1/20 but I didn't tell her Fe and she called in Loestrin 1/20-21 not Loestrin 1/20 Fe. I am switching from Loestrin 24 Fe so I figured that she would call in the 1/20 Fe but she didn't. So help please?

Fe- stands for iron,,,it has iron added or it dont
loestrin 1/20 - 21 the first set of numbers is the amount of hormone in each pill, the second number is the number of pills (21 pack)

if you are worried ask the pharmacist when you pick them up or call the dr back.

Has anyone had any luck with loestrin fe 1/20?
I just changed from ortho tri cyclen lo and it worked really well for my acne but it gave me horrible migraines. The doctor switched me to loestrin and I havent heard anything good about loestrin. All ive heard is that it makes you really moody and im already moody enough to the point that i get depressed. Can anyone tell me about their experiences with loestrin.

I took LoEstrin 1.5/30 for a great number of years and only recently switched to YAZ to help control my perimenopausal symptoms---especially my mood swings.

Give the LoEstrin a try...its a mono-phasic pill, so you don't have hormone fluctuations all month long. If you find you're not doing well on it, there are tons of other formulations out there that you can try. YAZ and Yasmin are both formulated to help with extreme moodiness, so if LoEstrin doesn't work for you, maybe that might be the next one(s) to try.

Good luck.

Loestrin Birth Control 1.5/30?
I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for about a year now and for the first few months it worked really great and the last 4 months it's been terrible. Two periods per month, break through bleeding.

I'm assuming since it's the lowest dose, that it's just not working properly anymore and was considering to switching to the Loestrin 1.5/30.

Is anyone on this? Can anyone tell me experience with it? Do you think since my body reacted fine with the Loestrin 24 Fe that it would be ok with this new pill just a higher dosage of hormones?

I used this formulation for years without any problems at all. I could skip periods if I needed/wanted to, and knew almost to the minute when I would get my period. Minimal cramping, no breakthrough bleeding, very little PMS in general. For ME, it worked great. All you can do is give it a try and see what happens.

Difference between Loestrin 24fe and Lo Loestrin Fe...?
Okay, so this could be a stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyway.
I'm a paranoid person when it comes to pills, however, I've been taking Loestrin 24fe for about 6 years now and I decided to switch to Lo Loestrin Fe. But I'm reading the effects and what not, and it seems like it has a lot more side effects. Is there a HUGE difference between the two pills besides the hormones?
Thank you.

this is a question that should have been explained/asked when your script was changed
you should call the office where they give you the BC and get them to explain it better
than the info your 'reading'
because in the end, thats the only answer that will put your mind at ease

When to expect my period on Loestrin 24 Fe?
I am on my second pack of Loestrin 24 Fe. Last month while I was on the first pack my period was incredibly heavy. That was about 3 weeks ago. Now I am on the second pack and I have started my period already. The point of Loestrin 24 is to have shorter periods, that last 3 days. My question is, is anyone on or has anyone used Loestrin 24 and experienced a 3 day period by the 2nd pack of pills? Thanks for any help you can give.

first three packs- really heavy bleeding during my period
enough to actually scare me and make me call my doctor about it- i never bled through a pad, underwear and jeans before!
also- i had light bleeding whenever i had intercourse

after that- my period got lighter and lighter
i actually skipped a month- i had to take three pregnancy tests
and so far, it's been heavy again

i don't really like this BC- but, i'm only staying on it b/c I don't feel like seeing my gyno again for another pregnancy test and pelvic exam

What pill do you start your period on with Lo Loestrin Fe?
I am on my first pack of Lo Loestrin Fe after switching from Yaz. I just took the first brown inactive pill today. I had some cramping yesterday, but no period. When should I expect to start? I've read in some places that Lo Loestrin stops your period altogether, is this true? Can someone who has taken this birth control give me some insight? Thanks!

You are supposed to start on/around the brown inactive pills - However, I have been on this pill for 2 months and have yet to have a period. Through my research I have found that this pill can in fact make you skip your periods all together.

When do you get your period with loestrin 24 fe (i.e., do you start on brown pills)?
I just switched to Loestrin 24 fe and am on day 25 (the first day of the brown pill) and just wondering when you typically get your period. I used to get it on the third day or so of Ortho Lo (green pills), but there were also seven of those inactive pills, and only four here with Loestrin. Thanks!

You're going to get it today or tomorrow probably, [the day you asked this question, I mean.] I've been on it for five months, and the first time I got my period on the 25th day, but ever since I've gotten it on the 26th day.

Can someone PLEASE give me side effects/pros/cons of Lo Loestrin Fe birth control?
I've tried looking online and can only seem to find side effects of Loestrin 24. I would realllly like to know what the side effects of LO LOESTRIN FE specifically are. (i.e any weight gain? decrease in acne/increase in acne, lowered sex drive?) So any information at all would be greatly appreciated!!

I think part of the reason there is so little information out there is because Lo Loestrin was just put out on the market a few months ago. I started taking it a couple of months ago, and I too have had difficulty finding substantial information about this drug. I wish I could point you in the right direction (drugs.com, rxlist, or webmd seem to have some answers). Personally, I experienced breakthrough bleeding (almost daily) and depression during the first month. Also, when I have been slightly late in taking it, I have experienced breast tenderness, fatigue, and an increase in appetite (sort of the same stuff I used to go through during PMS). Anyway I know this isn't much info, but I hope it helps a little bit!

Lo loestrin fe birth control questions?
I just started taking lo loestrin fe yesterday. I was really concerned about the side effects (Nausea, mood changes, spotting) but so far there have been none, I feel exactly the same.
Does this mean that I won't experience any of the side effects on lo loestrin fe?
If you have taken it, did you have the same experience, and/or how was your experience on it?
Also, I was wondering, this does work just as well at preventing pregnancy as other birth controls, right?

All birth control pills have the same effectiveness, so don't worry about that part. I've been on Loestrin Fe for a year and I haven't noticed any major side effects. Since you just started yesterday, you aren't going to notice anything right away. Once your body starts getting used to the hormonal adjustments, you might start noticing change (if it affects you at all). I've only had a couple of really bad mood swings right after taking placebo pills, but that hasn't happened very often. I also haven't noticed any weight gain or bloating. I haven't had any spotting or nausea either. Overall, I haven't had any negative side effects. This is just my personal experience, however, and it may be different for you. I hope everything works out!

EDIT

I forgot to mention positives! Since starting, my periods are super light! They usually only last two days. And I never get cramps either. :]

Is it okay to stop loestrin 24 in the middle of the pack and start taking Estrostep Fe because period is long?

You can start taking the new pill pack as long as you didn't miss any days of the previous pill pack and you're not skipping any days in between the two medications (ie start the Estrostep the day after you take the loestrin).

Is there a decrease in sexual activity when using Loestrin 24 Fe?
I am trying to find a birth control that doesn't decrease my sex drive, decreases my mood swings, and decreases my depression. Anyone know if Loestrin 24 Fe as any of those side effects?

One common problem that happens is this. I have been there and done that. You have to figure out what it is first that is destroying your sex drive. If your on medication like birth control or anti-depressants that is something to think about and do research on. Other then that it could just be stress, maybe the kids, really anything that makes your life stressful can do this and lower the libido.

One thing I tried that seemed to work while I was doing it was exercising. I just felt sexier doing it which kind of boosted my libido. However it wasn't the best solution for me. My friend told me about these herbal enhancers that are made from natural herbs and don't cause any side effects besides having wild sex. She said it's the female version of viagra. I had to find out.

I would always have a weak orgasm too (if I had one at all), which after trying this sex enhancer, it boosted them tremendously. I don't get multiple orgasms but I've had plenty since being on these herbs. It's seriously like the best vibrator ride you've ever experienced. These things make me horny all the time, some days I don't even take them because the urge is just too strong.

Don't try out single herbs because they don't do it like the blend of herbs these scientists and researchers pick out. I've tried a couple of them by itself and they did crap. The stuff that I'm on is called Hersolution, at the time I saved money on it at herenhancement.com . Make sure you get the 3 month supply that way you fall under the guarantee/return policy if the herbs don't work for you, you can return them with no questions ask. I bet they will work though and you won't have any problems. Also if your on medication of any sort, check out the gel because if your like me, you wouldn't want to swallow any thing that might react with the medications your already on.

Well have a good day and hopefully you solved your problem.

I am in my 3rd week of my 2nd month of Lo Loestrin FE and I can't say I lost any weight. Then again, I really haven't tried. As long as you add exercise and a good diet to your daily routine, none of the birth control pills can really make you gain weight, from my experiences. It's different for every women but no BC pills will help you LOSE weight.

I personally like this new, low dose of Loestrin, which is now 10mcg estrogen. My period came on the day I took the 27th pill and it was super light. It wasn't even really blood. It was dark and thick and it lasted about a little more than a day. That's convenient! However, I won't continue with Lo Loestrin FE past this month because of financial issues (I pay $35 a month with insurance; it's about $89.99 without). If this doesn't apply to you though, give it a shot but don't expect to lose weight.

Microgestin Fe 1/20 or Loestrin Fe 1/20?
I just switched from Yaz to Microgestin Fe 1/20 (the generic of Loestrin). I noticed that there's a full week of placebo pills with Microgestin as compared to only four with Yaz. How long can I expect my periods to be? I would hope not a whole week long?

Your period should still be within what is considered normal for you although you are taking the full week of placebo pills (an example only).

I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.

Can anyone tell me about their experience of using the new birth control pill LoEstrin 24 Fe?
I am currently taking the Low-Ogestrel-28 birth control pill but I am thinking about switching to the newer brand LoEstrin 24 Fe but I am very unsure. I have read that it make cause weight gain and shorter periods but I need to hear from women who have actually tried this pill and not some advertisement.

I took loestrin for 6 months for endometriosis and it was the first birth control that I've been on, that I actually liked. It does cause shorter periods because that's the whole point of having 24 pills and 4 iron pills. As for the weight gain, I don't know about other people, but this was the first birth control that I was able to lose weight on, and I've gained a lot from others. So hope that helps.

switching birth control - help?
I'm currently finishing up the last three days of my Loestrin 24 Fe sample, given to me by my gyn. However, I had to get my prescription changed after finding out that one month of the Loestrin would be $40 or so. So my gyn changed me over to Junel Fe 1/20. Over the past few days I've been researching and gathering what info I could about the new birth control, and I have found quite a few people experienced breakthrough bleeding lasting 2-3 weeks in their first month, as well as decreased libido!

Now normally that wouldn't be such a problem. But here - there's a catch! I'm leaving the country for two months, to visit my boyfriend in Europe. I know for a fact that both of us would be super disappointed if my sex drive is decreased... and I really don't want to have to deal with breakthrough bleeding for weeks at a time during my vacation.

I have checked and compared the contents of both Loestrin 24 Fe and Junel Fe 1/20 and they're both exactly the same.. the only difference between them being that Loestrin has 24 hormone pills while Junel has 21.

After that wall of text, here is my question. If the contents of both birth controls are the same, can my side effects still change when I switch to Junel? Or are there other contents that act as fillers, that are not included in the labels? I'm so nervous and I would really appreciate any help to ease my mind.
forgot to mention that I've only been on birth control for a month, if that matters!

I switched from the pill Loestrin 24 to Desogen?
just yesterday, my gyno switched my birth control for my periods from Loestrin 24 to Desogen.. What information do you have on it? Is Desogen a good birth control to be on? What are your side effects and when I should I actually switch?

I have used Desogen in the past and had pretty good results. I had very few side effects with it. I did go off of it to go on the generic Ortho-Cept for a while and then later on when I went back on the Desogen I used it to try and stop my periods because of my endometriosis. I had issues with breakthrough bleeding at that time.

But other than that time I had no problems with the Desogen.

As for when to switch I would recommend waiting until you finish the current pack of Loestrin 24, but even before doing that I would recommend checking with your doctor first for further clarification on when to switch from the Loestrin 24 to the Desogen.

Are these two types of birth control pills related?
My doctor switched my birth control on me...i'm finally sick of it! The one I was on before was perfect. Cured my horrible migraines, got rid of cramps, and pretty much got rid of my period all together and if I did have it it was only 2-3 days and very light. Now with this new one that I've been on for about 6 month I have been getting the worst cramps in the world. Back pain to the point where I have to make my husband rub it. Heavy flow for 7 days. Light headed and extremely tired all the time during my period and even light headed at times. And even 4 midol pills aint doing a darn thing! I never had to take them before starting loestrin.
But the thing with it is on my old one it is microgestin fe 1.5-30 and underneath it in small writing says SUBST For: Loestrin Fe
So are they related pills in some way? because i'm now taking loestrin fe 1.5-30. If they are related then why would loestrin be causing so much trouble for me?

I'm really about to go to the pharmacy and see if they can call up the doctor cause I can't wait another month to just get an appointment!
so the fillers are pretty much the "sugar pills" for the week you are suppose to have your period?

I'm actually taking Microgestin Fe as well! Love it. :) It's the generic for Loestrin. (which means they are the same thing active (hormone) ingredient wise, but the fillers are the things that are different) Normally generics have more side effects, but I'm guessing since your body got used to the generic now the the name brand is messing with you.

The pharmacy would probable be able to give you your Microgestin back, because it is essentially the same active ingredients, its the filler ingredients that are different.

Just switched from Loestrin 24 fe to Microgestin fe 1.5/30?
I was prescribed Loestrin 24 fe by my gyno. She gave me two months of samples and the prescription for the rest of the year. I used the two months of samples and when i found out that it would cost 60 dollars a month to fill it i called my gyno and she put me on Microgestin fe 1.5/30
My question is, do i have to wait another month after starting the microgestin for it to be effective against pregnancy or is it effective right away?

To protect against pregnancy the Microgestin should be effective within 7 days.

Also, on the finance front you can let the doctor know that you like the Loestrin and want to stay on it but would like to get samples instead.

I do this myself whenever I am on the pill.

Loestrin 24 fe- what day of the brown pill should I get my period?

It actually just depends. I'm on the same birth control, and I have only been on it for 1 month now, and I am currently on the brown pills and you can actually just have spotting instead of your period or just not end up getting your period at all and just skip it. Its because all your hormones are changing so they have to adjust, its nothing to worry about though, so if you don't get your period, just keep taking your pills everyday and once your hormones settle down your body will be back to normal.

Birth Control Pills Question - Confused!?
I used to take Loestrin Fe but it got too expensive so my doc prescribed me Microgestin 1/20. I just realized it's not Fe and there are NO placebo pills in the pack, just 21 active pills. My first question is when do I get a period/start a new pack? And my second question is, with Loestrin Fe I had four placebo pills then started a new pack...can I just not take these ones for four days then take it on the fifth?

I'm so confused...I'm on BCP for ovarian cysts.
